Suede Lens

Effective August 14, 2026

Privacy is part of the instrument.

Suede Lens reads public metadata from the webpage you choose to audit. Version 1.0 processes that information inside Chrome and does not send it to Suede Labs AI or any third party.

Information the extension handles

After you invoke Suede Lens, the extension reads the active page URL and public page content needed for its audit, including titles, descriptions, canonical links, headings, JSON-LD, creator and license metadata, provenance markers, social card metadata, image alternative-text coverage, and visible definition or question patterns.

The audit discards general page text after it derives the displayed signals. It does not read passwords, form entries, cookies, authentication tokens, browser history, or page content from tabs you did not choose.

How the information is used

Suede Lens uses active-page information only to provide its user-facing rights, provenance, SEO, AEO, social metadata, and trust audit; to create the fix queue; and to generate the Page Passport you choose to copy or download.

No page content, URL, audit result, or Page Passport is transmitted to Suede Labs AI, an analytics provider, an advertising network, or another external service in version 1.0.

Local storage and retention

The extension stores up to ten recent scan summaries in Chrome's local extension storage. Each summary contains the page title, page URL, signal score, and scan time. This history stays on your device and can be erased with the Clear control in the Page Passport view. Removing the extension also removes its local extension storage through Chrome.

Permissions

  • activeTab gives temporary access to the webpage you choose after you click Suede Lens.
  • scripting runs the local metadata scanner in that chosen tab.
  • sidePanel displays the audit beside the webpage.
  • storage keeps the clearable recent-scan summaries on your device.

The extension requests no host permissions and no access to every website.

Sharing, sale, and advertising

Suede Lens does not sell user data. It does not share page information with third parties. It does not use page information for advertising, credit decisions, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the extension's disclosed page-audit function.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Suede Lens's use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The extension limits use of active-page information to its prominent, user-facing audit function.

Children's privacy

Suede Lens is a professional page-audit tool and is not directed to children under 13. The extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If a future release changes the information Suede Lens handles or transmits, this policy and the in-product disclosure will be updated before that release. The effective date at the top of this page will identify the current version.
