Why this exists

Copyright was designed for a world where every recording was expensive and every distribution path was visible. Today, both assumptions are gone. A song generated tonight can be remixed, resung, translated, and licensed by morning. Most creators never see the chain of derivatives. Most never collect on them. Most never had a chance to.

Suede starts from a different default. Every work is signed at the source by the artist's device. Every signature is verifiable like a wallet signature. Every derivative has to point back to the parent and clear terms before it can publish under any partnered route. The work, the artist, the proof, and the rights travel together.

The four primitives

  1. Proof of creation. Patent-pending asymmetric signing protocol (USPTO 63/947,120) binds a work to a verifiable signature at the moment of capture. Hardware Sing and Sign devices (SU-87 microphone, S-Style 6 guitar) sign at the capsule and the body so origin is provable before a take ever leaves the room.
  2. Programmable rights. Splits, license terms, territory, and downstream behavior are written as instructions that travel with the work. Any verifier can read the rules. Any partner can settle to them. The artist controls the program.
  3. Distribution and royalty rails. Spotify, Apple Music, sync routes, and on-chain payment rails connect to the same registry. Splits are resolved on settlement, not after a quarterly statement. Velvet Horizon, Andrew Frelon, Grace Archive, Morrissey House — every counterparty sees the same ledger.
  4. Capital in, capital out. Suede Swap brings any chain into USDC on Base. Artist vaults route principal directly into work. SUEDE token holders get reduced rates, deployment fee waivers, and tier yield. The economy points at creators, not platforms.
